Emmy Telecast Returns to September — and Sunday

Much of Hollywood can breathe a sigh of relief.

Fox confirmed many TV types' hopes on Wednesday morning, announcing that the 2015 Emmy telecast will move back to its traditional mid-September home. The awards will be handed out this year on Sunday, Sept. 20.

Last year's Primetime Emmys, hosted by Seth Meyers, were held on Monday, Aug. 25, to avoid a conflict with NBC's Sunday Night Football in September. Ratings saw a slight decline to 15.6 million viewers — but, all in all, it was not the disaster that many had feared. Still, scheduling proved tough, with most nominated shows having to take that day off and the L.A. Live red carpet having to be reconfigured to accommodate work-day traffic.

A host has yet to be announced for the 2015 event, to be held once again at the Nokia Theatre at L.A. Live.

The Creative Arts Emmy Awards will be held a week prior, on Saturday, Sept. 12. They'll again air on FXX at a later date.
